Week One - 24th September

 

 Me, Nick , Gareth and Geoff were the only DJ’s and rappers on the course so we were put into the same group,  there was Gareth  who I never knew, Nick who I was already friends with and Geoff  who I knew but never talked to. On the first week we got to know each other and we had a mix, Me and Gareth mixed some grime instrumentals while Nick and Geoff rapped in front of everyone as we did a mini performance.

 

Week Two - 1st October

 

Geoff had decided to leave the group so we decided to just practice mixing this week. We had a mini performance were we performed a multi-genre mix of our own favorites.

 

Week Three – 8st October

 

We had another practice mix to prepare for a  recording next week, we didn’t do the mini performance this week, but this gave us more time to prepare.

 

Week Four – 15th October

 

We got in the studio straight away to prepare a set list ready to record after the break at 10:30, we then recorded a house mix and finished just in time for lunch

 

Week Five 22nd October

 

We had another mix and me and Jonny rapped and prepared for the refectory gig at lunch time, then we practiced for another mini performance when we performed a grime, dubstep and drum and bass.

 

Week Six – 5th November

 

We prepared to record a bass mix next week, we found some new tracks to put into it, we didn’t have a mini-performance this week so we again had more time to practice.

 

Week Seven – 12th November

 

We didn’t have a mini performance this week which was good because we were recording a mix, we got in straight away and started to record because we were confident, but we made a few mistakes so decided to try again after break. The second time we managed to do it successfully

 

 

 

 

 

Week Eight – 19th November

 

We got into the studio we decided to have a house mix and use the Korg synthesizer and have a go with the vocoder, this was fun, we performed in the mini performance and played a house set.

 

Week Nine  - 26th November

 

We got into the studio and didn’t know what to mix this week, so we put a set together and had a grime mix while we freestyled on Gaz’s mic, we didn’t have a mini performance this week.

 

Week Ten – 3rd December

 

We had arranged to record a Drum n Bass mix this week so we already knew what we were doing. We got it recorded first time and I was happy with how it sounded, we later uploaded it to our groups Soundcloud page. We didn’t participate in the mini performance again this week.

 

Week Eleven 10th December

 

This week we thought we would have a break from mixing and decided to start making a grime track together, we got a little bit done and performed a multi-genre mix in the mini performance.

 

Week Twelve  - 17th December

 

We decided to change our name from Phonetix to Lexical Fields this week because it felt more fitting; we also had a Drum n Bass mix and performed in the mini performance.

 

Week Thirteen – 7th January

 

This week we decided to record a Bass mix and we worked on making a house track, we never had a mini performance this week so it gave us more chance to work on the track.

 

Week Fourteen – 14th January

 

We started to work on the track from last week again straight away so we could get more done, we did a lot of work but never finished our track.

 

Week Fifteen  - 21st January

 

We decided to prepare to record a mix next week so we each got some tracks together from our laptops, put them together and practiced. We performed in the mini performance and did a bit from our set from next week.

 

Week Sixteen – 28th January

 

We got into the studio and decided to record straight away we got the mix done straight away so we were ecstatic, we performed in the mini performance again and we did not prepare and just freestyled our mix.

 

Week Seventeen – 4th February

 

We decided to start a new track today since we weren’t performing in the mini performance; we made a good start to it and we had lots of fun but never finished it.

 

Week Eighteen 11th February

 

This week we changed our name to Left Side Rollers and tried to record a mix on the fly (unplanned) and we got it done first time and uploaded it to our group Soundcloud page.

 

Week Nineteen – 25th February

 

This week we just had a practice mix to have a bit of a break from recording and to practice a few new techniques

 

Week Twenty - 4th March 2014

 

We practiced to for the mini performance since we were going to be recorded in the mini performance so we got tracks together each for a short mix, the recording went well.

 

Week Twenty-One – 11th March 2014

 

We just had a practice mix this week after last weeks recording and we spoke about how the recording went. We got a lot of feedback from people on soundcloud.

 

Week Twenty-Two – 18th March 2014

 

We went in the studio and had a little mix then we went to watch the Level 3 techs set up and do a run through of the show in the theatre that was being performed that night, since we have all applied for that course.

 

Week Twenty-Three - 25th March 2014

 

This week we decided to have a little practice mix since we all have sets coming up in April, that’s all we decided to do this week, we never performed in the mini performance this week.

 

 

 

 

 

Week Twenty Four- 1st March

 

We decided to all get some tracks together to get ready to record a mix next week to upload to our groups soundcloud page, we got that sorted and had a little practice and got some of the playlist sorted.

 

Week Twenty-Five – 8th March

 

We got into the studio and started mixing straight away, we got the mix recorded in one take and I was happy with it, we will be uploading it soon on our soundcloud.
